Tips and hints for getting the best out of your MindMentor online therapy session
Read MindMentor's advice attentively
Sometimes people read MindMentor's responses very superficially, like this: "Okay, John now I would like you to think about.... blah, blah, blah... a time when.... blah, blah.... feelings of relaxation, blah, blah...."
Click, next page. This doesn't work very well. To get optimal benefits from the MindMentor process, read his words carefully!
Take your time
An important problem or a serious goal deserve some serious time. Reserve at least one hour to do your MindMentor session. Make sure you are not interrupted, or at least not too often. You may not need the whole hour, but it's better to have some time left than to run out of time.
You can pause your session
Solving a problem is mental and emotional work. Sometimes people find the session too long to do in one go. No problem. Simply pause the session and come back later to finish it.
It's mental work
Working with MindMentor is not always very simple and easy for everyone. So be prepared to work (mentally and psychologically). If your energy is very low, do your session some other time when you are more rested. Or pause your session and come back later to finish it.
Come back
People get even more benefits from their MindMentor sessions after they have done them a few times. Many of the steps are the same, but your content is always different, so you'll have a different experience. Knowing what to expect helps you get the most out of the MindMentor process.
MindMentor is a tool
MindMentor is a tool for psychological change. Sometimes people use MindMentor as a game, trying to outwit him and see how he responds to ludicrous answers. There's no harm in this, but no great benefit either.... MindMentor is easy to fool. He will take almost anything you tell him seriously. So it's no fun cheating him. See MindMentor as a tool; use it well and it will work fine. Use it foolishly and not much good will come from it.
